杂技团魔术演员吕新诙谐风趣，他的表演，常赢得观众阵阵掌声。他崇拜比利时大侦探波洛，自称为波洛二世。最近，他被侦破影片迷住，满脑子的破案情节影响了他的日常生活。疑团重重的翠峰山案件中，他想施展自己的破案才能，结果受挫。但他不死心，在药店里，他发现两个扒手偷了姑娘王佳佳的钱包。凭着自己的魔术才能，吕新将钱包从扒手手中骗过来，又巧妙地用小魔术将钱包还给佳佳，博得了姑娘的好感。他借此还结识了扒手猴子和二嵬。不久，二嵬与另一个流氓头子桦树皮发生情斗，吕新以小头目的身份去找桦树皮算帐。他用'金锁穿腮'戏法镇住了桦树皮。吕新和佳佳走上恋爱之路，但破案心切的吕新却常常失约，佳佳大为恼火。在破案中，吕新发现有一个叫老K的人物操纵着流氓团伙。他曾想指使人要干掉吕新。知道吕新与佳佳的感情后又下不了手，只好和吕新摊牌。吕新知道了佳佳的哥哥王虎就是老K十分惊讶，他试图说服王虎...。SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。
